Why the Houston Texans could start 1-4 and it be a good thing!

Not counting the record injured reserved 4-12 season, Bill O'brien's Texans have gone 40-13 in the second half of seasons.  He has never rushed installing his game plan, and made it clear that the season is a marathon and not a sprint.  I think we go 2-2 through these first 4 games, but this team has been waiting to take that step, and winning tonight will be the first step to sending a message to the league that we are going to finally DEMAND our respect.  The 2020 schedule is very front loaded for the Texans.  All of the major bullets of the schedule come in the first four games of the season.  Chiefs, Ravens, Steelers, and Vikings are ALL being picked by one person or the other to truly make a bounce back.  The Steelers getting back Big Ben and having probably one of the more dominating defenses in the AFC will make it no easy task.  Bringing out an offense that no one, including the fan base, really understands what we actually have.  Might be a little puzzling for us, but will also be puzzling for the Chiefs tonight.  The one true thing we know is that there are a lot of injury questions with the new additions, and with Brandin Cook already limited and questionable for tonight, who knows without a preseason what we will see.  With that being said, I truly believe that the changes that have been made, barring injuries, could finally give us that 12 win season that we haven't seen since we had Andre, Arian, Owen, and a top 10 defense.

So what can we look forward to you ask?  Look no further than what Bill O'brien did as Offensive Coordinator for the New England Patriots in 2011.

With so many weapons, including the backs in your back field going out for a pass, who do you double?  The days of double, and triple team Dhop are over.  One of the biggest issues with the defense over the past couple of years is teams have double and triple teamed JJ, you have to have more than just one savior in the NFL.  You don't know if the TE's will stay in to block for the run, or if everyone is going out for the pass.  Drew Dougherty with the Houston Texans mentioned on #INTHELAB (See Below) this week that the Best Defense, could be  a GREAT OFFENSE.  The offense has been good over the recent years, but Good, has kept us from being GREAT.  Kudos to Dhop for getting the money he deserved for being the best in game.  But to take the next step this offense needed more than just one weapon.

Keys to the Game

Deshaun Watson now has the ability to get the ball out fast.  With veterans at every WR position, especially Randall Cobb in the slot, the ability to move the ball fast and eliminate unnecessary sacks, will be key to keeping the chiefs on their heels.  Carlos Hyde came in shortly before being cut by the chiefs, coming off a very drab 500 yard season the year before, and ran for 1000 yards for the Texans. Lamar Miller came to Houston after an 800 yard season in Miami and ran for 1000 yards for the Texans.  David Johnson came off of being injured the year before and ran for 900 plus yards for the Arizona Cardinals with a little over 400 passing yards, only to share a back field last year for a new coach who ran RB by committee and was obviously not his guy.  So why wouldn't David Johnson be able to flourish in this system?  He will be the key tonight to making sure we own time of possession.  The defense just needs to do their job.  John Harris has hinted at the Texans being able to put 7 DB's at a time on the field.  So goes Travis Kelce, so goes this game.  Contain him and I think we pull it out 38-30.

and as ALWAYS!

GO TEXANS!!!!!!!!
